This evening, while doing a bit of idle inet research on ‘creatures of the night,’ I was reminded of one of the absolutely golden bits of movie history. The original 1922 movie title was “Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens,” which translates “Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror,” and is usually only referred to as “Nosferatu” these days. This is of course based off of the 1897 novel “Dracula,” Bram Stoker.

Given that the movie is now 91 years old, I wouldn’t expect anyone to be scared by it in the least. However, at the time, the movie was a major technical break through. Now, it is considered to be one of the best films of its time, and has a major following in the classic film fan set. The following embedded link has the complete movie.

And while stumbling over “Nosferatu,” I also found a full movie version of the “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” from 1920. The original novel was written by “Robert Louis Stevenson.” I have not seen this one yet, but I will by the end of my night. So happy viewing out there in cyber-land.
